Farm B Baseball

2012 Regular Season

Farm B Division is for boys and girls between 6-7 years of age. Typically this is for players who have already had one season of Tee Ball. This is a non-compete, instructional division where players advance in learning additional aspects of the game.

  • Children in this age category need no experience with baseball to register for Farm B.
  • Players in this division do not attend tryouts, so once you register, your next step is to attend parents night in February and wait for your coaches call.
  • Practices start right after parents night.  These typically occur twice a week for an hour each.  One practice is on a week night and the other on a Saturday.
  • Games begin after Opening Day at the end of March.  These replace the practices on the schedule so the twice a week obligation doesn't change.
  • You child should expect to learn the basics of baseball through the season.  Some examples of the basics are field positions, running bases, hitting, throwing, catching, safety on and off the field and most importantly, how to have fun playing ball!
  • Players will be rotated throughout the season, which will allow for every player to play every position multiple times throughout the season.
  • A pitching machine is used throughout the season in Farm B as a means of delivering the ball with a consistent speed over the plate.
  • The season is split in two with respect to enforcing "outs". In the first half of the season, teams will bat through their entire order regardless of number of "outs". In the remaining half of the season, "outs" will be introduced, graduating to retiring of the batting team to the field upon 3 "outs".
  • Kids only need to have a baseball glove.  Although many kids bring their own bats and batting helmets, these are not required since each coach will have helmets, bats and balls for their team.
