Clayton Valley MINOR A RAYS defeat  the ALAMEDA Express 7-6 but do not advance due to forfeit

On Monday the Clayton Valley Minor A Rays traveled to Alameda to play the host ALAMEDA EXPRESS and they came home winner  7-6.  Ryan Redmond took the mound and defeated the high flying Express that came in with a  regular season 19-1 record. He went a full 5 innings and left after throwing 70 fantasitc pitches and maybe one earned run.  He would give it up to Kevin Snyder who produced 2 outs and was removed at 20 pitches so he could pitch the finals and Jordy Robichaud finished them off with a grounder to Kyle Connor at first.

After 1 inning the Rays were down 2-0 on unearned runs. Kevin Snyder with runners Connor and Robichaud on first and second spanked the ball to right center for a double scoring Connor. Moments later Robichaud and Snyder scored on fielders choices by Cade Hermeston and Dylan Roach, at the end of one the Rays led 3-2 and never lost the lead again.

In the fifth the Rays broke it open led by a mammoth triple from Jacob Kirkpatrick scoring one and later Jacob would bring in the decisive run by stealing home after a misfire from the cathcer to the pitcher.

All would be good in Mudville after the win, but a controversy arose as I forgot the Golden Rule, I forgot to report the subs in to the umpire. We broke no rules on playing time as all of the Rays played their hearts out. Williamsport PA the home of Little League agreed with our argument there were no grounds for a forfeiture, but the District  declared it a forfeit.

Congrats to the Rays, the only undefeated TOC team this year as Alameda would take a win over Walnut Creek on Wednesday night..

Chris Bauer, Kyle Connor, Jordy Robichaud, Ryan Redmond, Kevin Snyder, Dylan Roach, Cade Hermeston, Kyle Dugan, Jacob Kirkpatrick, Tyler Bryce, Josh Lunsford and Chris Kuhn, you guys did it right and you are the true winners with a  21-2 record.
